As a "default" blog theme, I suggest you reflect on the topics and practical sessions covered in JRN320 as a form of learning journal. Describe the things that you come across in class, and discuss your responses to them as both a learner and as someone (potentially) about to pursue some form of media or communication career. You can love, hate or be indifferent to this class and the topics discussed, but you should try to expand upon your thoughts beyond a superficial "this is cool" or "this sucks" statement. You will quickly hit the limits of your creativity if you do not force yourself to reflect HONESTLY about your personal reactions.
If you are still having trouble, try some of the following:
Brainstorm - Write. Just write. Set a time limit (say 15 minutes) and dump whatever comes into your head. Do not edit. Describe what is going on around you. Describe where you are at with your work in this subject. Describe what you would rather be doing and why. You might be surprised at how easy it is to find a topic if you just sit down and start free-typing. When you reach your time limit, you can go back and edit the work if you wish.
Read or surf - Read through your notes for this subject. Read the forum. Read your classmates' blogs. Read anything. Surf the Web for a few minutes. With some luck you will quickly find something to spark your imagination.
Revisit a previous blog post - Take something you have already written and add a new twist or spin to it. Update it, particularly if you have come across a new angle or information about the topic. Wher you too quick to make a judgment?
Rewrite & expand work from elsewhere - Take work you are doing in another subject, or perhaps even from internships, cadetships, or a paid job and re-purpose it for the blogosphere. How might you re-write or even expand on that content to make it fit into the blog/online format? Give examples, and/or describe the process.
Still stuck? - Maybe you just are not in the right mood. You can save unfinished work as a draft and come back to it. Or you can come back and edit a published post if you are struck by inspiration later. Whatever you do, don't give up. You must keep coming back to it regularly.
